Wow! A ‘Declaration of a Climate Change Emergency’ motion has been submitted to Northampton Borough Council!
TTN is working with a political party (TTN is apolitical and will work with all parties to combat climate change) and has secured this timely motion seeking the support of all of our Councillors.
Declaring such an ’emergency’ is the first step to taking some concerted actions to reduce and move towards a Net Zero Carbon Footprint for the town.
The definition of an Emergency is as “a serious, unexpected, and often dangerous situation requiring immediate action.”
The key to the outcome of passing this motion is ‘immediate action’, so the follow up that is required is a Climate Change Action Plan. There are so many no-cost and low-cost options available that when combined with the funding available to Community and other organisations working in the town we can start almost immediately.
